The zippers still work, but are a bit fragile. These used a spring to mount the pannier. These can make some noise and one of them is a bit sprung. But it is hard to complain about a 30+ year old pannier that is still usable.

do away w/ the little pockets & make them bigger the flat zippered pocket is next to useless except for maps then you cant hardley get them out with the bag loaded,put a water bottle pocket on the front of these panniers, the front space is just wasted.put some sort of straps on top w/ d rings on outter edge so you can strap a jacket/2 liter bottle etc.
